The International Association for the Future STEM Workforce (IAFSW) successfully convened a critical meeting with its international partners, the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity (KOFAC) and the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), on April 5, 2024.
IAFSW was represented by its President, Dr. Pornpun Waitayangkoon, and a team of dedicated vice presidents and executive committee members including Mrs. Duangsamorn Klongsara, Ms. Jintana Pornraksamanee, Dr. Omjai Saimek, and Ajarn Parichat Puangmanee. They were joined by the distinguished Senior Specialist in STEM Education, Assoc Prof Teerawat Prakobphon.
From KOFAC, the distinguished President Mr. Yul-rae Cho led the discussions alongside the strategic insights of Dr. Hwan-Cheol Lee, the Director of Policy Planning. They brought with them a team of experts including Mr. Jeon Hun, who have been instrumental in advancing math and STEAM education and policy planning.
IPST contributed its authoritative voice with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thiradet Jiarasuksakun , the President of the institute, taking a leading role in the dialogue. Dr. Wachira Srikoom and Dr. Khemmawadee Pongsanon, the Director of Human Resources and Organization Development Unit, and the Director of Teacher and Educational Personnel Development Unit respectively, brought their invaluable perspectives on educational advancement. Dr. Cheeraporn Sangkawetai rounded out the IPST delegation with a focus on technological integration in education.
The agenda, rich with forward-thinking initiatives, covered Sustainability and STEM Integration Programs, Teacher and Educator Workshops, Student Competitions and Challenges, Community Outreach and Engagement, Digital Resource Development, and International Collaboration and Exchange Programs.
This international meeting not only set the stage for future cooperation but also showcased the dedication of the individual participants who are the driving force behind the STEM educational advancements across the globe. With such combined expertise and commitment, the IAFSW, KOFAC, and IPST are well on their way to nurturing a future where science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are pillars of global sustainability and innovation.
